Since the beginning of the epidemic season (3 October) 18 deaths related to the flu were recorded in Ukraine, the head of the flu and SARS department in Ukrainian Center for Disease Control Tetyana Dyhanovska told a briefing on 12 January.
She noted that the death rate from flu this year is at the level of the previous epidemic season.
Last year, the deadliest influenza strain was H1N1 (California), this year is dominated by H3N2 (Hong Kong).
In 2015/2016 epidemic season 5.8mn Ukrainian fell ill with the flu in the period between September to May. 391 people died.
