US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that the world supports Ukrainians who have been defending their right to freedom for 82 days.

Blinken said this in a television interview, according to the US Embassy in Ukraine.

"The most important thing is that Ukrainians have been defending their freedom for 82 days. They are defending their sovereignty. The world supports them so much. And here is what I can tell you: Vladimir Putin tried to take away their independence, their sovereignty. In his opinion, Ukraine is not an independent state; it needs to be annexed to russia. That's what it's about," Blinken said.

However, the US Secretary of State believes that "it can be said with great confidence and conviction that a sovereign, independent Ukraine will last much longer than Vladimir Putin."

On May 15, Blinken announced that the US Embassy in Kyiv would resume full-fledged work in the near future. Because of the war, diplomats worked in Poland.

Blinken also assured that NATO allies intend to continue to impose sanctions on the russian Federation for as long as necessary.
