The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal met with the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany Svenya Schulze.

This was reported by Shmygal in his Telegram.

During the meeting, they discussed the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.

"I have submitted a proposal to the German government to appoint a special envoy to support our country in recovering from the effects of the war. I hope other special envoys, including the decentralization and transformation of coal regions, will also resume their work," he said.

He stressed that "it is important for Ukraine to restore the infrastructure in the liberated regions as soon as possible to ensure the normal logistics and operation of enterprises."

Also they discussed the results of the meeting of G7 development ministers. During his online speech, Shmygal called on the G7 countries to take the lead in rebuilding Ukraine.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also called on the German side to join the filling of the Fund for Reconstruction and "mobilization of financial resources for the benefit of Ukrainians."

Associated Press reported today, citing government sources, that Western allies are considering allowing russian oligarchs to lift sanctions in exchange for funding for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction.

In early April, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy a draft decree on the establishment of the Fund for Reconstruction of Ukraine. The fund will coordinate the accumulation of financial resources for the postwar reconstruction of the state.
