Ukrainian artist Katya Lesiv has been included in the list of participants of the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, which will take place from 19 September to 13 December, 2026.
The official website of the Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art reports this.
Katya Lesiv was born in Khmelnytskyy in 1993 and currently lives and works in Helsinki (Finland). The artist works with various mediums, including photography, graphic art, and artist’s books. She is interested in themes of transitional states, such as between sleep and wakefulness, and the natural course of life processes.
Through analog photography, artist’s books, and installations, Katya Lesiv explores cyclicality and motherhood, with a particular focus on presence and materiality. Performative methods, often rooted in everyday rituals, serve as a means of conveying intimate experiences while preserving privacy. The artist’s book often becomes the primary and final form of her creative work.
The 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art will run from 19 September to 13 December, 2026. It is curated by Catherine Nichols, and this year’s theme is To Move From One Dream to Another. The exhibitions will be presented across several cultural venues in Lyon.
