Ukraine’s Armed Forces Special Operations Forces, in cooperation with the Resistance Movement and Deep Strike units, struck the Balaklava thermal power plant in temporarily occupied Sevastopol.

This was reported was by the SOF press center.

The strike on the Balaklava thermal power plant was carried out on the night of 14 July.

As a result of the attack, the turbine hall and the cooling system of one of the Siemens SGT5-2000E gas turbines were damaged

The Special Operations Forces note that repair work on the pumping equipment could take from two to five months.

The Balaklava thermal power plant is one of the key energy facilities in occupied Crimea. Together with the Tavriya thermal power plant in Simferopol, it provides the bulk of electricity generation on the peninsula.

The SOF add that stable power supply is critical to the functioning of Russia’s military infrastructure in Crimea, including communications hubs, command centers, radar stations, electronic warfare assets, air defense systems, repair facilities, the Black Sea Fleet, and military airfields.

Strikes on energy infrastructure facilities on the occupied peninsula could significantly affect logistics support and the combat capabilities of Russian forces.
