In Ukraine, the fuel market remains controlled and balanced, and available resources are sufficient to meet consumers’ current needs.
This was stated by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal after a meeting with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the tax and customs services, the Antimonopoly Committee and business representatives.
According to Shmyhal, to keep the fuel situation under control, the government has launched a pilot project for underground fuel storage.
“A comprehensive system of underground storage facilities will be created in Ukraine, and proper conditions will be ensured for the safe storage of petroleum products. The priority is to guarantee uninterrupted supplies of diesel fuel, first and foremost for defence needs and critical infrastructure,” the minister noted.
Shmyhal added that work to diversify supply routes is continuing.
“Particular attention is being paid to the Romanian route. Following the recent meeting between Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Romania’s President Nicușor Dan, we reached specific agreements to expand the logistics capacity of rail and river routes via Romania. We are working at government level to implement them,” the Energy Minister уточнив.
Ukraine is also building up fuel reserves. As of the beginning of September, according to the State Customs Service, the State Tax Service and market operators, there are sufficient fuel stocks to sustain the current level of consumption, the minister assured.
