US President Donald Trump has suggested renaming the Strait of Hormuz the "Trump Strait". He said that Hormuz is now under the control of the United States.
Trump wrote about this on his Truth Social social network.
"Now that we control it, shouldn’t we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait???" the American president wrote.
According to Trump, the new name would reflect the strait’s significance.
"Like America itself, it would be hotter than ever before," he added.
- Earlier, Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico the American Gulf, and on several occasions has said he intended to call the Strait of Hormuz either the Trump Strait or the American Strait.
- Trump also proposed renaming Lake Ontario the American Lake.
