The Kyiv City State Administration has published guidance on how to protect yourself from fragments of downed missiles and drones. Above all, during an air-raid alert you must not remain out in the open.
Fragments of a downed drone can pose a danger. After it falls, there may be unexploded munitions and other explosive hazards that can detonate even after some time has passed.
If you see drone debris, a missile fragment, or a suspicious object, you must not:
- touch the find or allow others to do so;
- move the object, try to dismantle it, take it indoors, bury it in the ground, or throw it into a body of water;
- photograph the find and publish it online.
What you should do:
- move away from the suspicious object to a safe distance;
- if possible, mark the location of the find without approaching it;
- immediately notify the State Emergency Service on 101 and the police on 102;
- wait for specialists to arrive and tell them the exact location of the find.
