In Russia, two major oil refining industry facilities have ceased operations following strikes – LUKOIL-Nizhny Novgorod Refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the NOVATEK Ust-Luga complex in Leningrad Region.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The shutdown of the Kstovo oil refinery was confirmed following analysis of additional data. The facility was hit on 26 August.
The shutdown of the NOVATEK Ust-Luga complex in Slobidka, Leningrad Region, was also confirmed after the strike on 1 September.
According to the General Staff, pipelines between the oil dispatch pumping station and the storage tanks were damaged at the facility. This caused an oil product spill over an area of about 200 square metres.
In addition, a primary gas condensate processing unit and two columns of the hydrocracking unit were hit. In the tank farm, a pipeline fire was also recorded, accompanied by an oil product spill over an area of 250 square metres.
The General Staff noted that both facilities are involved in meeting the needs of the Russian armed forces.
