Slovakia has condemned Russia’s attack on Kyiv on 4 September, during which a drone struck the SBU building near the consular section of the Slovak Embassy. In Bratislava, the Russian ambassador was summoned to provide explanations.

This was reported by Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár.

According to Blanár, the SBU building is located near the consular section of the Slovak Embassy in Kyiv. Due to security restrictions, the premises are used only to a limited extent, so no one was there at the time of the attack.

“We strongly condemn today’s attack by a Russian drone on the building of the Security Service of Ukraine, located near the consular section of the Slovak Embassy in Kyiv,” the Slovak minister said.

He urged Russia to refrain from actions that could endanger the lives and safety of civilians.

Juraj Blanár also said he had instructed that the Russian ambassador to the Slovak Republic be summoned.

The Slovak side called on both parties to avoid further escalation which, the minister said, heightens tensions and does not contribute to a peaceful settlement of the war.

“I ordered that the Russian ambassador to the Slovak Republic be summoned,” Blanár noted.

  • The SBU stressed that the Russian drone was deliberately directed at the office of SBU head Oleksandr Poklad. The head of the SBU was not injured.
