As of the beginning of September, Ukraine has connected 642.4MW of distributed gas generation to the electricity grid under the Comprehensive Resilience Plans for regions and individual cities.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
Of the total, regions connected 587MW of capacity, while 55MW was connected by state-owned companies.
Some 491MW of distributed gas generation has already been commissioned.
The leaders in the pace of gas generation development are Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, as well as the city of Kyiv.
Under the resilience plans, UAH 1.4bn has been allocated for the installation of cogeneration units. Of this amount, UAH 1.2bn was channelled through a new budget programme.
The largest share of funding went to the frontline Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.
Overall, around 1.8GW of distributed gas generation is currently operating in Ukraine.
By the end of the year, a further 800MW of capacity is planned to be commissioned. Of this, 200MW is to be delivered by state-owned companies.
