On the night of 6 September, Romania issued an air raid alert due to a group of aerial targets approaching the Ukrainian-Romanian border. The military also prepared fighter jets and a helicopter to take off.
This was reported by Romania’s Ministry of Defence.
According to the ministry, at 23:40 on 5 September the radar system detected a group of aerial targets moving towards the river border with Ukraine.
Romania’s air defence systems were put on combat readiness. Two Spanish Air and Space Force F-18 fighter jets and a Romanian IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopter were prepared for a possible take-off.
The National Military Command Centre also informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the need to implement public warning measures in the northern part of Tulcea County.
At 00:10, residents of the region were sent a danger warning via the RO-Alert national warning system.
At 00:42, the air raid alert was cancelled.
