UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of unwavering support and announced that deliveries of British-made air defence systems will be accelerated.

This was reported by The Guardian.

During Zelenskyy’s meeting at Downing Street, Burnham stressed that the United Kingdom would continue to support Ukraine.

"We are on your side, and that will not change," the British Prime Minister said.

He described the past few days as "dark and difficult" for Ukraine because of heavy Russian bombardments and expressed his condolences to those who have lost loved ones.

Burnham also said that London is speeding up deliveries of air defence equipment so it can be deployed in Ukraine as soon as possible. In addition, he urged ministers to consider every possible option for helping Kyiv.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy thanked the United Kingdom for its support and stressed the importance of international partners for Ukraine.

"Our people — we survived and we continue to survive precisely because we have strong partners, and I am very proud that we have one of the strongest partners in our history, and that is your people, Andy," the President said.

Zelenskyy noted that Russia continues to strike with ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones, and there is still no energy ceasefire. He said Russia’s actions point to escalation, while Ukraine is seeking an end to the war.

Burnham said Zelenskyy is ready to discuss US President Donald Trump’s proposal for an energy ceasefire, but Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
