The 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov has denied claims by Russia’s Ministry of Defence that it has allegedly captured Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Novotroitske and Petrivka in Donetsk Region. All three settlements remain under the control of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

This was reported by the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov on Telegram.

The corps said that, to create the illusion of an advance, Russian troops are using a tactic of infiltrating settlements with small infantry groups.

According to Ukrainian servicemen, such groups try to raise the Russian flag, record it on video and use the footage as evidence of an alleged capture of territory. Azov says Ukrainian troops detect and destroy these groups.

The corps also stressed that Russian propaganda uses such videos to showcase successes which, according to the Ukrainian side, do not in fact exist.

According to the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Novotroitske and Petrivka are under the control of units of the Burevii Brigade and other components of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

The corps said that the coordinated actions of Ukrainian units prevent Russian troops from gaining a foothold in these settlements.

Claims by Russia’s Ministry of Defence that they have been captured do not correspond to reality.

  • The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied Gerasimov’s claims about the capture of towns in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Since the start of autumn, Ukrainian troops have liberated more territory than the enemy has seized.
