The Air Raid Alert app has launched a map showing the estimated movement of Russian aerial targets. Users will be able to see the approximate location and direction of travel of some missiles and drones.

The launch of the feature was announced by Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, while the Ministry of Defence explained how the map works.

The new feature displays different types of aerial targets, including cruise missiles, "Banderols" and "Shahed"-type drones. Users can also zoom in on the map, enable a 10 × 10 km grid and the "Increased Danger" heat map to better understand the directions in which targets are moving.

The Ministry of Defence has organised the transfer of data from the Air Force to the app. The information is delivered via secure communications channels, undergoes preliminary security processing and contains no sensitive details. The app receives only the type of threat and the geographical area where it was detected.

The Map Does Not Show Exact Target Coordinates

According to Koretskyi, the update is intended to give Ukrainians quick access to information verified by the military, so that during attacks they do not have to waste time searching for updates from unverified sources. At the same time, the Ministry of Defence stresses that the map does not show the exact coordinates of aerial targets and does not track them in real time. Information may arrive with a delay, and the map itself does not show every threat.

In particular, it does not display ballistic missiles or targets travelling at speeds above 2,000 km/h. The ministry urges users not to use the map to assess whether it is safe to leave shelter.

The absence of markers does not mean there is no danger, and a target disappearing from the map does not indicate the threat has ended. After an air raid alert is issued, you should immediately head to shelter and remain there until the all-clear.

It is recommended that you monitor the map only once you are already in a safe place. There is no need to update the app to access the new feature.

Technology companies contributed to the development, along with the IT teams of the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with support from the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
