On the night of 19 October, the Russians attacked more than 10 energy infrastructure sites. At least 550,000 families were left without electricity.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

“Once again, a Russian ballistic attack in several waves overnight, and once again there was no warning from our partners. Once again, the targets were the energy sector and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged,” he wrote on Telegram.

Overall, the Russians used 16 ballistic missiles, and this was a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. The Russians also deployed more than two hundred drones of various types, including jet-powered Shaheds, from the Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk Regions to Volyn, Rivne and Odesa Regions.

“Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance,” the head of state noted.

Overnight and in the morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in Vinnytsya, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolayiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyy, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa and Rivne Regions. In this single night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure sites were damaged and at least 550,000 families were left without electricity. Repair crews are working on the ground.

“Ukraine never wanted this war, and we responded positively to literally EVERY attempt by our partners to end this war with dignity; to EVERY proposal for a ceasefire we gave a positive response. Ballistic missiles, Shaheds and killings are Russia’s answers again and again. Putin does not want to end this war, nor even to take any de-escalatory steps. EVERY one of our partners has faced this personally when hearing refusals from Russia. And it is very important to call things by their proper names. To call the aggressor an aggressor and to help Ukraine protect lives. When the supply of missiles for Ukraine’s air defence is blocked, while Russia receives sanctions relief or delays, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality by our partners. In reality, the war continues, and it continues only because of Russian strikes and Russia’s desire to drag this war out. Thank you to everyone who recognises reality and helps Ukraine,” the President wrote.
