Over the past day, the enemy continued drone attacks on Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure, and overnight and in the morning carried out a missile strike on a number of energy facilities.

Ukrenergo said that as a result, as of this morning there are new power cuts in the Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. Where security conditions currently allow, emergency repair and restoration work is already under way. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all affected consumers as quickly as possible.

Due to rain and strong gusts of wind, as of this morning around 140 settlements in the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions were fully or partially without power. Repair crews from the regional power companies are already working to restore damaged power lines.

To avoid overloading equipment damaged by previous Russian shelling, in some regions today until the end of the day it will be necessary to apply power limitation schedules for industry and hourly outage schedules (of up to two stages) for all categories of consumers.

Ukrainians are being urged to use electricity sparingly while restrictions are in place. The outage schedule for a specific address can be found on the official pages of the distribution system operator (regional power company).

Electricity consumption has increased. Today, 19 October, as of 09:30, it was 4.5% higher than at the same time on Friday, 16 October. The reason for the change is cloudy, rainy weather in most regions of Ukraine. This results in low efficiency of household solar power plants and a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the main grid.

Yesterday, the daily peak in consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 2.9% higher than the peak of the previous Sunday, 11 October. This is due to a drop in air temperature, which prompts consumers to use electric heaters in the evening hours.

It is advisable to limit the use of high-power electrical appliances from 16:00 to 22:00.

Due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, the situation in the power system may change. Therefore, it is worth following updates on the websites and official social media pages of the distribution system operator.

  • On the night of 19 October, the Russians attacked more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities. At least 550,000 families were left without electricity.
