Ukrainian UGV manufacturer Ratel Robotics has tested an autopilot for its systems. The company published a video of the test on Facebook.

The footage shows the uncrewed ground vehicle independently driving around obstacles.

Another feature — Backtrack, or returning along a previously travelled route — is already included as standard on the Ratel M and Ratel H uncrewed ground vehicles, the developers said.

The company says it is continuing to work on automation to make operators’ work easier and expand the robots’ ability to carry out tasks independently.

Ratel Robotics is a Ukrainian manufacturer of uncrewed ground vehicles that has been developing drones since 2023. The company’s robotic platforms are used for battlefield logistics, casualty evacuation, reconnaissance, drone launching and demining. In 2026, the company signed contracts totalling $86 million. It is also in talks with several NATO countries under the “Build With Ukraine” initiative. Recently, the company was acquired by US firm Swarmer, Inc., which develops autonomous drone-control platforms.

As a reminder, Ratel Robotics integrated a remotely operated 12.7 mm turret on the Ratel H UGV.
