As of the morning of 20 October, power outages have been reported in twelve regions of Ukraine due to Russian shelling. In some areas, scheduled outage timetables will be introduced.

Ukrenergo reported this.

As a result of hostile shelling, as of the morning there are new power outages in the Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

Where security conditions currently allow, emergency repair and restoration work has begun. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all affected customers as quickly as possible.

Due to heavy rain and strong gusts of wind, 9 settlements in the Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions have been left fully or partially without power. Repair crews from the regional power companies are already restoring damaged overhead power lines.

To avoid overloading equipment damaged by previous Russian shelling, across all regions of Ukraine today until the end of the day, power limitation schedules for industry will be applied as a forced measure, and in some regions hourly outage schedules (up to two groups) will be introduced for all categories of consumers in some regions.

Electricity consumption has decreased. Today, 20 October, as of 09:30, it was 2.6% lower than at the same time yesterday. The reason for the change is the onset of sunny weather in parts of Ukraine. This increases the efficiency of household solar power plants and accordingly reduces the volume of electricity consumption from the main grid.

Yesterday, the daily peak in consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 2.2% higher than the peak on the previous working day, 16 October. The reason for the change is cloudy weather in most regions of Ukraine.

“Please, during the period when restrictions are in place, use electricity sparingly! Check the outage schedule for your address on the official pages of the distribution system operator (regional power company) in your region,” the statement said.

Because of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, the situation in the power system may change. It is therefore worth following updates on the websites and official social media pages of the distribution system operator.
