54% of Ukrainians surveyed this month trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Of them, 22% trust him “completely”, and the rest “rather” do.

41% of respondents do not trust the President, according to the survey results of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, conducted on 8–16 October. At the end of August and the beginning of September, the figures were identical.

“That is, over the past month the level of trust has practically not changed,” KIIS commented.

Sociologists noted that among those who took part in the survey on 8–9 October, that is, before the Russia–US diesel deal, 43% trusted Zelenskyy and 52% did not. Among those who answered the questions on 10–16 October, 57% trusted Zelenskyy and 39% did not.

“We have previously observed situations where in the first days of the fieldwork stage trust in the President is slightly lower than in subsequent days, meaning that for such differences there may, at least in part, be methodological reasons. However, previously the differences were much smaller, and the current nature of the differences indicates that we are most likely observing a ‘rally round the flag’ effect after pressure from the United States,” the survey results say.

Between 8 and 16 October 2026, the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted its own nationwide public opinion survey, ‘Omnibus’, to which, on its own initiative, it added a question about trust in the President of Ukraine, V. Zelenskyy. Using telephone interviews (computer-assisted telephone interviews, CATI) based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers (with random generation of telephone numbers and subsequent statistical weighting), 1,031 respondents were interviewed in all regions of Ukraine (territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine). The survey was conducted among adult (aged 18 and over) citizens of Ukraine who, at the time of the survey, were living in the free territory of Ukraine.

Under normal circumstances, the formal statistical margin of error for such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account a design effect of 1.3) did not exceed 4.0% for indicators close to 50%, 3.4% for indicators close to 25%, 2.4% for indicators close to 10%, and 1.7% for indicators close to 5%.
