The Jeden svet festival in Bratislava, Slovakia, will present a Ukrainian film programme. The Ukrainian Institute, with whose support the event will take place, reports this.

The festival programme will screen the following films:

  • 22 October — «Queens of Joy», directed by Olga Hibelinda, produced by Ivanna Khitsynska and Louis Bodemon
  • 24 October — «Traces», directed by Alisa Kovalenko, co-directed by Marysia Nikitiuk, produced by Nataliia Libet and Olha Bregman

«Traces» is the winner of the proMOTION programme run by the Ukrainian Institute and Eurimages 2025, and is Ukraine’s candidate for the 99th Academy Awards in the «Best International Feature Film» category. The film has also been submitted for consideration for the European Film Academy Awards.

  • 25 October — «Silent Flood», directed by Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk, produced by Karina Kostyna and Yevhen Rachkovskyi (TABOR)

The festival will also host a discussion titled «Colonialism Between East and West: Who Tells the Story?», which will address the shaping of narratives and cultural memory, how different societies reflect on imperial and colonial legacies, and more. The conversation will feature Yuliia Kovalenko, programme director of Docudays UA, the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

Jeden svet is Slovakia’s largest and oldest documentary film festival, which will take place this year on 20–25 October.
