Ukraine-Norway agrees on transport visa-free regime

Liberalisation of freight transportation will be in effect at least until June 2024.

Ukraine-Norway agrees on transport visa-free regime

The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with the Transport Ministry of Norway on "transport visa-free travel", says the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure on Facebook

Now bilateral and transit cargo transportation will be carried out without permits.

"We are expanding the list of countries with which the "transport visa-free regime" is actually in effect - currently 35 countries. Previously, Ukrainian freight carriers, regardless of the environmental class of their vehicles, could only travel to Norway with a permit. Now, trucks of Euro 5 and higher standards are allowed to travel without a permit. The liberalisation of freight transportation will be in effect at least until 30 June, 2024," said Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Sergiy Derkach.

The simplified regime will come into effect on 1 September this year. In order to use the "transport visa-free regime," the carrier must have a certificate confirming the environmental class of the truck.

Vehicles of lower environmental class will still be able to carry out transportation. Ukrainian carriers will be able to obtain 250 universal permits and 50 permits to/from third countries.

In June this year, Ukraine agreed on a "transport visa-free regime" with North Macedonia. In November 2022, the European Parliament approved a "transport visa-free regime" between the EU and Ukraine.
