President Zelenskyy: Russia must not live in comfort while attacking Kharkiv from Belgorod

Recent Ukrainian attacks on this region have caused blackouts.

Ukraine is targeting the energy infrastructure of the Belgorod Region because it is from there that Russia launches strikes on Kharkiv and the Kharkiv Region. It is also from there that aircraft take off with bombs and missiles.

Ukraine’s position has not changed: the civilian population is not being targeted. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a meeting with journalists on 8 October.

“Where did hundreds – and now thousands – of guided bombs come from? From there. Likewise, they are striking the energy infrastructure in Kharkiv and the region. Maybe they feel quite comfortable staying in Belgorod if they are doing this. Perhaps that is only fair. After all, we told them they must understand that if they want to impose blackouts on us, we will do the same. There are no secrets here. The enemy must bear the cost of this war. But we do not kill civilians,” he commented.

The president added that Ukrainian weapons are being used for these strikes.
