Ukraine’s Defence Ministry says Starlink and Starshield operating speeds have been restored. Monitoring systems are recording speeds of more than 400 km/h.

Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara told journalists in a comment, LB.ua reports.

"The Defence Ministry’s monitoring systems are recording the restoration of Starlink/Starshield speeds. We are recording speeds of more than 400 km/h; the connection is stable," Khmara said.

"This is yet another example of how direct dialogue and the firm stance of the President of Ukraine at the highest level delivers results. And this result is, above all, important for our front line—for the military, drone operations, logistics and communications," the Defence Minister stressed.

He added that the Defence Ministry will continue monitoring and recording the performance of Starlink/Starshield.

The Starlink Issue in Ukraine: What We Know

Problems with Starlink satellite communications in Ukraine have affected the capabilities of the Ukrainian military, in particular the use of strike drones and interceptor UAVs.

US President Donald Trump said that access to Starlink for the Ukrainian military had allegedly been fully restored. At the same time, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously reported that speed restrictions above 160 km/h remain an obstacle to the operation of some UAVs.

Ukraine checked whether the restrictions were linked to technical problems at SpaceX or were being applied deliberately. To do so, Starlink terminals were tested in European Union countries. According to the data cited, the restrictions were found only on Ukrainian territory.

Representatives of the US administration denied Washington’s involvement in restricting the systems’ operation. At the same time, The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, wrote that Elon Musk may have personally ordered restrictions on the operation of the military satellite system Starshield in Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of the disruptions, US congressmen urged the Trump administration to secure the restoration of Ukraine’s full access to Starlink and Starshield. In particular, members of the House of Representatives appealed to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, calling for the Starshield contract to be expanded. Stable satellite communications are crucial for command and control, drone operations, logistics and communications at the front.
