President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that Ukraine cannot join NATO until the war with Russia is over, but the procedure could be started now. This was reported by the press service of the President of Poland.
Duda stressed that Ukraine should strive for full membership in the Alliance.
"During the war, this is impossible, but I believe that Ukraine should receive an invitation to NATO, which would start the process of discussing this issue in individual national parliaments of the Alliance member states. This process can continue, it is extremely important for the morale of Ukraine's defenders," he said.
Duda also added that Ukraine's presence in NATO is important for the strength of the entire Alliance and Poland's security.
