An aide to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said the United States should end all support for Ukraine in order, he claimed, to speed up the end of the war.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded to the Kremlin’s statement on X.

He said the remarks effectively reveal Russia’s true intentions: Moscow is seeking not a diplomatic settlement, but to continue the war without any pauses.

“In fact, he has laid bare Russia’s true intentions: instead of genuine diplomacy, Moscow wants to continue the war without any pauses,” Sybiha said.

The head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry noted that Russia’s leadership is prepared to keep sacrificing its own troops and worsening the country’s economic situation in order to prolong the war.

“Russia’s elites exist in a parallel world, alongside their boss. They would rather senselessly sacrifice hundreds of thousands of their soldiers as cannon fodder and drive their economy into free fall than end a war they cannot win,” Sybiha stressed.

Sybiha emphasised that increased pressure is needed to change Moscow’s position.

“Only increased pressure can cure Russia’s illusions and finally bring them to the negotiating table,” the minister said.
