The government has allocated UAH 67.6bn to implement resilience plans for regions and individual cities. A number of regions are behind the schedules set for building protective structures and connecting the necessary equipment.
Prime Minister reported this following a meeting of the Operational Coordination Centre for implementing resilience plans for regions and individual cities, according to Serhii Koretskyi.
“I chaired a meeting of the Operational Coordination Centre for implementing resilience plans for regions and individual cities. We compared the actual state of work with the schedules set by the National Security and Defence Council. In a number of regions there are delays in the construction of protective structures and the connection of the necessary equipment. I instructed the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Recovery Agency to strengthen oversight of each specific site and ensure the work is completed within the set deadlines,” the head of government said.
Despite limited budget funding, the government has allocated UAH 67.6bn for implementing the resilience plans. Of this, UAH 43.7bn is for engineering protection of critical infrastructure facilities.
Special attention during the meeting was given to backup power sources for critical infrastructure.
Regions must increase their number as much as possible and also build up the necessary fuel reserves for critical infrastructure and the social sector.
Local authorities bear personal responsibility for ensuring backup power for heat and water supply facilities, as well as wastewater disposal.
The meeting also discussed restoring Ukrzaliznytsia’s locomotive fleet, which was lost as a result of Russian strikes.
The Ministry of Finance, together with the relevant agencies, must ensure the necessary funding to restore the locomotive fleet.
In addition, the Ministry of Infrastructure was instructed to develop a mechanism to insure workers and equipment involved in building protective structures for energy facilities in frontline regions.
The Prime Minister stressed that there is still time before the start of the heating season, so all services, agencies and local self-government bodies must speed up their work and ensure the timely implementation of all designated measures.
