Two women who were injured the previous day in a Russian attack on a train in Sumy district have died in hospital.
This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov.
The victims were aged 60 and 79. Both women sustained severe injuries. Despite doctors’ efforts, they could not be saved.
Two other injured people remain in a critical condition.
"The Russians deliberately struck civilian transport with drones. This is yet another cynical crime that has taken the lives of innocent people," Hryhorov wrote.
What happened before?
Yesterday, 8 September, the occupiers attacked two passenger trains in Sumy region at once. In the morning, the Russians struck the Kyiv–Sumy train with drones. The train had been stopped in advance at the station by Ukrzaliznytsia’s monitoring team — the passengers, train crew and locomotive crew were evacuated, and there were no casualties.
Later, a suburban diesel train came under attack. Not everyone managed to move far enough away to a safe distance. As a result of the attack, people suffered shrapnel wounds.
