NABU’s economic impact consists of confiscated funds, sums recovered by court order, money whose embezzlement was prevented, and funds returned to the budget. Money confiscated by a court decision goes to the state budget.
NABU Director Semen Kryvonos said this during a discussion organised by LB and EFI Group as part of the “New Country” project. He added that some defendants may also, under a deal with the investigation, transfer funds to charitable foundations.
“The specialised prosecutor’s office sets out the terms in the agreements it concludes with defendants. Part is transferred to the state budget, and part is voluntarily paid by those involved into separate funds. As far as I remember, to Sternenko’s Foundation, Come Back Alive, for the purchase of drones under the memorandum that has been signed,” he said.
Overall, the amount of damage caused in criminal proceedings is transferred to the state budget or to the state-owned enterprise that suffered the losses.
“Everything else is separate agreements. So manipulation on this issue must be stopped,” the NABU director stressed.
