On the night of 8 September, Russia struck the international “Starokozache” border crossing on the Ukraine–Moldova border with attack drones. The crossing has temporarily suspended operations.
There are civilians dead and injured who were near the checkpoint. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported this.
“At present, the processing of citizens and vehicles in this section of the border has been temporarily suspended. The neighbouring side has been informed of the situation,” the statement said.
According to the State Emergency Service, two people were killed as a result of the strike and three more were injured.
“Buildings were damaged, and buses, lorries and cars were destroyed. A large-scale fire broke out,” the statement said.
Rescuers evacuated 16 people from the site of the hostile strike. They were taken by bus to a safe location for temporary accommodation.
“Starokozache” is an international border crossing point in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District of Odesa Region. It is located 600 metres from the border.
- This is not the first recent Russian attack on border crossing points in Odesa Region. In August, the enemy attacked “Tabaky”.
