NABU Director Semen Kryvonos described as highly bizarre the claims about “external control” by the United States or any other country. Speaking at an event organised by LB and EFI Group, he said it was “a very strange, deep cognitive bias, bordering on mental health problems”.
Kryvonos noted that he was tired of hearing that the Bureau is supposedly run by Europeans, Americans, or George Soros. Even some individuals caught up in covert investigative measures discussed it.
“One moment it’s Russian influences, then some other kind, this kind or that. It’s nonsense. First, it’s manipulation. I can’t even understand how anyone can sincerely believe it,” he said.
- The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has repeatedly denied any foreign influence over it. Krivonos has stressed that claims of deliberately publishing high-profile investigations in order to supposedly put pressure on the authorities are unfounded. Materials are made public when there is sufficient evidence to issue a notice of suspicion.
