On the night of 9 September and on 8 September, units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck a number of key military facilities belonging to the Russian occupiers. Among the targets hit were a launch site for attack drones, the high-speed patrol boat Mongoose, reconnaissance assets and ammunition depots.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In particular, in the area of Donetsk, Ukrainian troops hit a facility where Russian forces stored, prepared and launched attack UAVs.
In Kozacha Bay in Sevastopol, in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, a Project 12150 high-speed patrol boat, the “Mongoose”, was hit. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
Two more Defence Forces targets were also on the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. In Olenivka, an antenna complex for signals intelligence was hit, and in Vityne, an antenna inside a radio-transparent dome of a separate command-and-measurement complex.
In addition, Ukrainian troops struck enemy depots. In Dokuchaievsk in Donetsk Region, a drone depot was hit, and in Fashchivka in Luhansk Region, an ammunition depot belonging to the Rubikon unit.
Another ammunition depot of Russian forces was hit in Selydove in Donetsk Region. The General Staff noted that the extent of the damage to the targets is still being clarified.
- The Mongoose is a Russian patrol boat designed for patrolling and protecting maritime areas, as well as engaging small targets. It is about 20 metres long, has a top speed of up to 50 knots (over 90 km/h), and a crew of up to six.
