Today, 12 October, EU foreign ministers decided to introduce nearly 1,600 new sanctions listings against Russia’s military-industrial complex.
This was reported by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
According to her, this is the largest expansion of the EU sanctions list since the start of Russia’s war.
“Europe is once again demonstrating unity,” the diplomat wrote.
More than half of the new sanctions listings relate to the ballistic missile production chain.
“We are significantly complicating, slowing down and increasing the cost of Russia’s production of the weapons it uses to kill Ukrainians,” Kallas noted.
EU Foreign Ministers just adopted nearly 1,600 new sanctions listings targeting Russia’s military-industrial complex. This is the single largest expansion of our sanctions list since Russia started its war. Europe is again showing a united front. More than half are connected to the production chain for ballistic missiles. We are making it significantly harder, slower and more expensive for Russia to produce the weapons it uses to kill Ukrainians.

- Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said that the new package provides for sanctions against more than 1,500 individuals and companies. Among them are 743 individuals and 826 legal entities. In particular, Russia’s military-industrial complex has been hit by the restrictions. The sanctions list is also proposed to include 77 State Duma deputies elected from Ukraine’s occupied territories.
