Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes Russia will not dare to use nuclear weapons, as it would lead to the loss of its allies. In addition, such a move would set a dangerous precedent for other conflicts around the world.
The head of state said this in an interview for the podcast The Diary Of A CEO.
"I do not think Putin will risk using nuclear weapons. I am sure that then he would have no allies left. And countries such as America, China... This is very dangerous even for nuclear powers," Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that, after Russia’s actions during the war against Ukraine, further escalation cannot be ruled out. At the same time, he does not consider the use of nuclear weapons a likely scenario, as it could have serious consequences not only for Russia but also for international security.
Zelenskyy also said that, in his view, the Russian political system will remain closely tied to Vladimir Putin.
"We are dealing with a man and a system that will cling to him until the end of his days, and he will cling to it," the President noted.
According to Zelenskyy, Putin will leave the Kremlin only at the end of his life, when power passes to another leader.
