Belarus continues to provide its territory for the operation of relay stations for Russian drones.

This was stated by State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko during a TV broadcast, Ukrinform reports.

Belarus continues to help Russia use drones to attack Ukraine.

"For the most part, Belarus is currently continuing to support Russia with those same relay stations, when the aerial assets that Russia launches at Ukrainian territory are being fed precisely from Belarusian territory," the spokesperson noted.

According to him, the threat from Belarus remains, but at present Ukrainian border guards are not recording preparations for corresponding actions directly near the border.

"That is, the enemy – Russia – is not transferring additional forces to the territory of Belarus, if we are talking about infantry groups or, indeed, units. And Belarus itself is not moving additional forces of its own directly up to our border," Demchenko added.

The spokesperson also suggested that the self-proclaimed president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is avoiding direct entry into the war because of possible losses among Belarusian troops.

"Presumably, Lukashenko understands the consequences if he enters the war against our country with his units: his units would suffer losses, and so he is trying to avoid such steps. Instead, he is ready to help Russia kill Ukrainians in other ways," Demchenko said.

  • In June, President Zelenskyy said that Russian and Belarusian relay stations are deployed on Belarusian territory and could be used to adjust drone attacks on Ukrainian territory. The head of state added that Lukashenko has a week to dismantle such infrastructure; otherwise, Ukraine may take measures independently.
