Vitaliy Kovalchuk, the first deputy head of the presidential administration, has become the head of Petro Poroshenko’s election campaign HQ, Hromadske has learnt from sources in the presidential administration.
It said that the president met members of the HQ behind closed doors in mid-August to introduce Kovalchuk as its head.
“Kovalchuk will oversee organizational issues both on the central level and in the regions, while Ihor Hryniv will actually manage the campaign. He is in charge of the strategy and content,” Hromadske said.
Kovalchuk has not commented on the report.
He and Hryniv performed similar functions during Poroshenko’s presidential campaign in 2014. Kovalchuk was also in charge of organization while Hryniv came up with the slogan “Live a new way”.
