Due to russia's war against Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure issued an order to close the Berdyansk, Mariupol, Kherson and Skadovsk sea trade ports until [Government] control is renewed.
This is stated in a statement on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
"Because of the full-scale war which the russian federation waged on 24 February 2022 and continues against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in violation of international law, launching missile strikes throughout Ukraine and committing crimes against humanity, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine issued an order dated 28 April 2022 № 256, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on 29 April 2022 under № 470/37806 "On the closure of seaports". According to the order the seaports of Berdyansk, Mariupol, Skadovsk, Kherson are closed from the date of order official publication, until the of control over these seaports is renewed" the statement said.
It is stated that the decision is motivated by inability to service ships and passengers, to ensure an adequate level of safety of navigation and to protect of the environment during russia's hostilities in these regions which endanger human life and health.
