Chernihiv will need at least 14 billion hryvnias to rebuild its housing stock after the attacks by the occupiers.
The Mayor of Chernihiv, Vladislav Atroshenko, told about these estimates on air during the all-Ukrainian TV marathon, as reported further by Censor.NET.
"We have [in Chernihiv - Ed.] 10,000 apartments destroyed. If we count 50 square meters of an apartment at 16,000 hryvnias per square meter, it is 800,000 hryvnia per apartment or 8 billion hryvnias for the restoration of all housing. In addition, 135 houses were fully damaged by the direct blast of mines, and 635 were partially damaged. We also have 40,000 apartments that need to be repaired. The total amount exceeds 10 billion hryvnias. For private houses, at least another 4 billion hryvnias [is required]," the mayor said.
In addition, according to the mayor, damage to the city's municipal infrastructure amounts to many billions of hryvnias.
As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia announced on 17 May the launch of the Skoda electric train on the Chernihiv-Kyiv-Chernihiv route.
On 26 April, the government allocated UAH 150 million from the reserve fund to repair the destroyed municipal infrastructure facilities of Chernihivvodokanal [Chernihiv water utility].
