From July 1, the Polish government is preparing to stop paying PLN 40 per day (about UAH 300) for food and accommodation for refugees from Ukraine.

This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland and Government Representative for Refugees Pavel Schaefernaker, writes Rzeczpospolita.

"We are convinced that many people in Poland can become independent and adapt," the official said.

Schaefernacker added that there would be exceptions. Yes, payments will be continued for minors, pregnant women and women with many children.

The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that the government in a special act on assistance to refugees from Ukraine from the beginning guaranteed the payment of assistance in the first 60 days, but a month ago the payments were extended for another 60 days.

"But this is the end. We are paying huge social funds - from 300 zlotys for each and 500+ for each child and other amounts arising from social benefits," he said.

Pavel Schaefernacker added that many Ukrainians are looking for a job and finding it on their own. Therefore, the government wants to push the rest to independence.

It will be recalled that from June 1, for some citizens of Ukraine who arrived in Poland after February 24, free travel on railways, toll roads and public transport in most Polish cities will be canceled, with some exceptions.

By the way, more than 2.2 million Ukrainians have returned home from a temporary evacuation. Border guards have been recording the advantage of entry over exit since May 10.
