Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha responded to a call by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev urging Russian leader Vladimir Putin to end the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry.
According to the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, Tokayev’s appeal is “realistic, timely, and wise.”
“We appreciate President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s calls on Putin that the time has come to stop the war. A realistic, timely, and wise appeal,” Andriy Sybiha said.
The minister recalled that Ukraine had proposed halting hostilities along the current front line and moving to a diplomatic settlement. However, he said, the Kremlin continues to reject this path to peace.
Sybiha also noted that the Kremlin spokesperson has already rejected the Kazakh president’s proposal as well.
“The conclusion is this: Moscow must feel greater pressure before it agrees to realistic peace proposals,” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy stressed.
