On the eve of a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, Ukraine has handed NATO a list of urgent air and missile defence needs. To that end, an extraordinary meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council was held under the chairmanship of the Alliance’s Secretary General, Mark Rutte.

The Ukrainian side presented allies with an assessment of current aerial threats and urged them to provide additional weapons more quickly. The Ministry of Defence reported this.

“Right now, timeliness matters more than quantities. Drones and air defence systems will decide the course of this winter,” Deputy Defence Minister Serhii Boiev stressed.

The Ramstein-format meeting will take place on 8 September. Strengthening missile and air defence will be one of the key issues.
