Overnight Russia Strikes Ukraine With Ballistic, Anti-Ship and Cruise Missiles and Drones

The enemy launched Oniks missiles from Bryansk and Kursk regions and Crimea; ballistic missiles from Voronezh and Bryansk regions; cruise missiles from Vologda region; and drones from the directions of Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Crimea and Donetsk.

On the night of 8 September, starting from 18:00, Russia attacked Ukraine with Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 32 air-launched Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 166 attack UAVs, most of them jet-powered. 

The main directions of the strike were Kyiv and Odesa regions. This was reported by the Air Force

“Missile and enemy attack UAV impacts have been recorded at 29 locations, as well as the fall of downed targets (debris) at 9 locations,” the statement said.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:30, air defence shot down/suppressed 175 targets:

  • 2 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23/S-400/Oniks;
  • 31 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles;
  • 142 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type, Gerbera, and drones of other types.

The attack on Kyiv and the region began in the evening. Russia killed two people in the capital, and another 10 were injured. The highest number of casualties was in the Solomianskyi district.

In Odesa region, a market security guard was injured.
