Police officers together with chaplains evacuated three elderly residents of the Novomykolayivka community in Zaporizhzhya Region. During the operation, a Russian drone repeatedly attempted to attack the team.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
“An elderly couple and a man decided to leave, so the evacuation team immediately planned the trip to get people out of danger as quickly as possible. The villages of the Novomykolayivka community are striking in the scale of destruction. People are frightened,” the National Police said.
From the village of Maryanivka, 71-year-old Mykola was evacuated. It was particularly difficult for the man to leave his large household and harvest, but he agreed to go for the sake of safety.
At another address, police picked up 81-year-old Anatoliy and his 80-year-old wife.
During the evacuation of the elderly couple, a Russian drone repeatedly made attack runs on the team.
The police had to open fire with small arms. As a result, the drone was shot down.
Despite the danger, the evacuation team safely delivered all three people to the Zaporizhzhya transit centre. There, those evacuated will be given the necessary assistance.
