The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra in the United States has cancelled a planned collaboration with Russian violinist Vadim Repin and changed the programme for its concerts.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Thanks to the work of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra has cancelled its planned collaboration with Russian violinist Vadim Repin and changed the programme for its concerts,” the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, Ukraine’s diplomatic mission appealed to the organisers to reconsider Vadim Repin’s participation in the scheduled concerts.
After that, the orchestra decided to отказаться from сотрудничества with the Russian musician and to change the concert programme.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the decision once again demonstrates that Russian propaganda has no place on international cultural platforms.
“Russia is systematically trying to use culture as a tool of influence and to create an acceptable image of a state waging a war of aggression against Ukraine,” the ministry added.
Ukraine will continue working with partners to ensure that representatives of the aggressor state do not use international cultural platforms to normalise Russia’s aggression.
