Hanna Hvozdiar has been appointed Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine. She will be responsible for the defence industrial complex.
The ministry recalled that Hanna Hvozdiar has extensive experience working with the defence industry, having served as Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries, as well as Deputy Minister of Defence and an adviser to the Defence Minister.
The key priority of her work will be the needs of the front line. Soldiers must receive the necessary Ukrainian-made weapons on time and in sufficient quantities to counter Russian threats on the battlefield.
“A separate focus for Hanna Hvozdiar is the export of Ukrainian defence solutions whose production exceeds the front line’s needs. Exports can become a tool for developing mutually beneficial partnerships with Ukraine’s allies and attracting additional funding for Ukraine’s defence,” the ministry said.
Hanna Hvozdiar is a volunteer and civic activist. Since 2014, she has helped wounded soldiers and the families of fallen defenders. She began her career in the private sector. From October 2012 to August 2021, she served as director of Protezhe LLC.
From July 2015 to April 2016, she was an adviser to the head of the Luhansk Military-Civil Administration.
In May 2021, she joined Serhii Prytula’s Charitable Foundation, initially as deputy director on a part-time basis. From August 2021 to September 2022, she served as the Foundation’s deputy director, and from September 2022 to September 2023 as director of Serhii Prytula’s Charitable Foundation.
She became Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries in September 2023.
Later, Hvozdiar became Deputy Minister of Defence under Denys Shmyhal. She was dismissed after Mykhailo Fedorov was appointed minister, but became his adviser.
