President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he devoted yesterday to personnel matters. He held meetings with HUR chief Oleh Ivashchenko, Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, and acting SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, the head of state said in response to a question from LB and other media.
There were also meetings with the heads of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, and the Prosecutor General. With the latter, he had a “fairly long meeting”.
“He wrote the relevant statement, and the motion will be sent to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” he said.
As for former minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the president said he has not heard anything about him for a long time.
“I know he was abroad somewhere, and, as they say, he doesn’t call, he doesn’t write,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
- In recent days, NABU and SAPO exposed a criminal group operating within the Office of the Prosecutor General. The main suspect at present is the head of one of the departments, surnamed Kropyva. According to investigators, he received undue benefits in exchange for not obstructing the work of fraudulent call centres. The criminal proceeds were laundered, including by registering property in the names of Kropyva’s family and cohabiting partner.
- In audio recordings released by NABU, Kropyva discussed his boss. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has not officially been served with a notice of suspicion.
- Yesterday he held a closed meeting with journalists, at which he said he had no intention of resigning. According to Ukrainska Pravda, the president met with him in the evening. After that, Kravchenko wrote a resignation statement.
- The Prosecutor General will be dismissed, in line with procedure, by members of parliament.
