American negotiators brought several new, “very good, worthy” ideas to Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an audio comment to journalists.

It is still impossible to say whether they can be implemented. But Ukraine will work through the details and its own vision.

“I cannot put these ideas freely into the media space right now, because we agreed with the Americans that we would work on this first. And only then will we communicate it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Context

During a visit to Kyiv on 6 September, American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner said they had brought certain new ideas for settling the war in Ukraine. They made the visit after travelling to Moscow the day before. These ideas were discussed with the Russian leader.

What exactly the ideas are—there are no details.

In November last year, the Americans brought a 28-point plan to Kyiv to end the war, which contained demands unacceptable to Ukraine: to withdraw from Donbas, reduce the army and abandon its course towards NATO. Work on the plan continued in a trilateral format. No consensus was reached on territories.
