Ukrainian company EDRONE has unveiled the DRAKON unmanned aerial system, designed for reconnaissance missions. The manufacturer reported this on Facebook.

The drone’s stated maximum flight time is up to 50 minutes, with a guaranteed communications range of 10 km. Its cruising speed reaches 70 km/h, with a top speed of 100 km/h. The maximum operating altitude is 300 metres, the developers say.

The drone can carry up to 0.5 kg of payload and operate in winds of up to 12 m/s. The drone’s design features a carbon-fibre frame reinforced with aluminium components.

DRAKON is equipped with a SIYI ZR-10 camera with 10x optical zoom. It is mounted on a three-axis gimbal that stabilises the image during flight and while observing targets.

The system also includes a pseudo-random working-frequency retuning feature, enabling missions to be carried out in environments where electronic warfare (EW) systems are in use. The company said the drone has already been used in combat conditions.

EDRONE is a Ukrainian defence technology company that develops and manufactures unmanned aerial systems and ground robotic systems. The company operates on a full-cycle production model: it has its own research and development (R&D) department, an engineering workshop and manufacturing capacity. The company’s developments include BATON-series interceptors, the multi-purpose DRAKON drone, as well as the KOLOBOK and KALACH ground systems.
