Russia is installing relay stations on Belarusian territory in order to use this corridor for drones. But it also wants to deploy other types of weaponry on Belarusian soil, including ballistic missiles.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this on 17 October in an audio comment to journalists. The deployment of ballistic missiles in Belarus would pose a threat, above all, to Ukraine’s western regions.
“I am sure Putin has such thoughts. And this is the direct involvement of Belarus in the war and, in my view, it is very dangerous for Belarus as well,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine is strengthening air defences where enemy strikes are most frequent. It will increase production of turrets to shoot down jet-powered drones.
