The President of Ukraine urged that sanctions on Russia should not be lifted, that air defences should be strengthened, and that support for Ukraine should continue after a Russian strike in the Kharkiv region that killed six people, including children.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this, commenting on the Russian strike in the Kharkiv region.

"A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A Shahed hit virtually straight into people — a park near an ordinary café. Absolute barbarity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in her pushchair. Her name was Angelina; she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna; she died in hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children," the President wrote.

"These are harrowing photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Life must be protected. Ukraine needs air defence," Zelenskyy stressed.

The President thanked everyone who supports Ukraine and helps shoot down Russian drones and missiles, as well as stop assaults by Russian forces.

He urged that sanctions on Russia should not be lifted while it continues killing, appealed to the United States to apply Lindsey Graham’s law, and to Europe to continue supporting Ukraine.

"Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted all this time on continuing the killings. The world has enough strength to stop the war. It is time to finally use that strength — against the killers," the head of state said.
